Name: Dean Winchester. Hasselhoff • Dan Hermansen • Christopher Johnson, Jr. • Dean J. Mahogoff • Detective Landis • Deputy Marshal Billy Gibbons Door: Door Pass - Dominant Canon: Supernatural Canon Point: 5x03: Free to Be You and Me Age: 30 Appearance: link History: We know a little about a lot of things just enough to make us dangerous. Personality: Loyal: There are no lengths he wouldn't go to in order to protect someone he cares about, even if it means trading his own future to ensure theirs. His judgment may not always be sound but once someone is a friend or an ally, he'll always be willing to go to blows for them. That usually means he's got his eyes out for trouble and will drop everything to help. He's the guy you can call at the last minute, and he'll speed over guns blazing. He's got an open phone line policy and if you have his number, you're one of the people he'll come rain or shine to help. Dean doesn't even have to be on the same page with someone to show up and be there for them. As evidenced by his following along with Jo's reckless decision to hunt the ghost of H.H. Holmes, even though he doesn't agree with it and knows it'll get him into a load of trouble with her mother. He's never gonna let someone he cares about go it alone, he knows what it feels like to have to be an island and wouldn't wish that on anyone else. Tempermental: Rowdy and restless, something he's never been good at is patience. He's got a mean streak a mile-wide and the temper to match it. The longer he has idle hands the more likely it is that he will snap or do something rash. Despite the arrogance and the Don Juan attitude, Dean suffers from chronic insecurity and self-loathing. The balancing act that is his ego, is a tight-wire death trap not even the most dutiful acrobats should attempt. Even though he's got most of it suppressed, in the typical way he handles all faults and trauma, it sometimes bleeds through the surface and causes lapses in judgment. Choices like offering his life and soul up on a silver platter in exchange for his brother aren't out of the ordinary. Whatever gets him from point A to point B faster and whatever it takes to see a plan through. Working with demons, following a path to self-destruction with a heavenly host of douchebags to guarantee a future he won't get to see all play into his inability to stay grounded and his tendency to fly off the handle. He's been temperamental since he was small, and had no influence or opportunity to develop emotionally because he was too busy raising himself and his brother. He lashes out instead of looking at the big picture and shuts down when he's unable to find an easy solution to a complicated problem. When things don't work out or a plan falls through he points fingers instead of looking for new avenues and the dull rage he's never dealt with stays simmering under the surface and rears its ugly head when he feels cornered. He struggles with balanced reactions to complicated emotions and measured responses typically come after a meltdown, or after guidance from another perspective, too little and too late. It typically takes a third party like Bobby or Sam himself to get him to acknowledge his fault in a situation and that's after he's spun out and sped down a highway to drink it away or look for another fight instead of a solution. Stubborn: Stubborn as an ass is likely in every case file that's ever been put together on him, after a lifetime of difficulty with the feds and every authoritative figure he's ever had. Dean has lived his life relying on surveillance and gut instinct, and usually, it doesn't fail him. He's not opposed to trickery, or giving someone the slip instead of cluing them in on what's really going on. It helps to line his wallet too, slight of hand has never been a problem, and being raised the way he was he knows how to con better than most street thugs because he plays the long game and he plays it to win. Leaving something unfinished isn't his style. He's got a problem with admitting when he's wrong and is dogged about his ideals to the point of conflict. Dean won't hear other opinions about a situation or a person if he's already made up his mind, and he won't allow any wiggle room for working with a situation he doesn't see the point in. Getting him to back down from his own stance on something might as well be pulling teeth, and bull-headed through and through this is a core trait that permeates both negative and positive situations. Once he's made up his mind, there's not much chance of changing it. His brother's disdain for how they were raised is a subject Dean won't breach with him no matter how valid it might be, out of respect for his dad, and something as simple as taste in music can open the door to an argument that no one can win. "Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole." Sometimes it's a simple one-liner that shuts something down and other times it's a lot more complicated and lengthy. Telling him not to do something is the quickest way to make him do it, and even Castiel laments that: "Because whatever I ask you seem to do the exact opposite." When Dean comes to confront him about why he didn't just ask for their help if he needed it. The Winchester gene for being uncompromising is one of Dean's easier-to-peg qualities, he's set in his ways and dutiful. What's more, is that he's aware of his own shortcomings where this flaw is concerned and is in too deep to do anything to fix it. He knows he's going to die bloody gun in hand like the grunt that he is. Glutton: Dean's no stranger to vices and believes in a healthy relationship with alcoholism and womanizing. In his own words, he considers himself both a functional alcoholic and an unattached drifter. He's long since given up the dream of an apple-pie life. Too much margin for error, and too much responsibility. Overindulging in the finer things like good food, booze, women, and porn takes his mind off of how shitty his life can get. It's nice to have hedonism to fall back on when things are rough. He's so used to getting his rocks off with random girls while blowing through random cities that he calls Valentine's day, "Unattached Drifter's Christmas." This mentality filters through all kinds of gluttony. From alcohol to food, Dean partakes in and appreciates the finer things and treats them like his very own prescription for pain. "You treat an outside wound with rubbing alcohol. You treat an inside wound with drinking alcohol," words from the man himself. Powers and Abilities: Outside of an unusual sense of intuition, keen knowledge, and proficiency with weapons and mechanics Dean's no super-hero or super-sleuth. Survival instincts and supernatural know-how is a pretty big perk of the life. Inventory: • Colt M1911A1 • his favorite music loaded into this phone • Demon-Killing Knife Samples: TDM here, ongoing. |
